Commercial beekeeping
More than a decade of working with bees and seasonal natural production gave the brand its practical foundation.
More than a decade in Australian commercial beekeeping
Secret Honey grew from more than a decade of commercial beekeeping and hands-on work with raw Australian honey and pure beeswax. Today, our range brings together beekeeper-produced honey, handmade beeswax candles and natural lip care, Australian grass-fed cooking tallow, and a modern tallow skincare collection inspired by a family tradition—made without compromising the ingredients or the process.
A real working history
For more than a decade, commercial beekeeping has been at the heart of Secret Honey. Alongside our raw Australian honey, we made practical products by hand, including pure beeswax candles and natural lip balms. As the range grew, we also returned to a family tradition of using tallow for both cooking and skin care—leading to our Australian grass-fed cooking tallow and modern small-batch tallow creams. Working closely with these natural raw materials taught us patience, consistency and respect for the source.
The move into tallow was personal. Ash remembered his grandfather using tallow in the kitchen and for simple skin care. It was not presented as something fashionable or complicated. It was simply a useful traditional ingredient that had earned its place through everyday use.
We decided to continue that idea in our own way. We kept the common sense of the tradition, then worked on the rendering, ratios, texture and supporting ingredients until the creams felt right for modern use. We did not want the cheapest shortcut, the longest ingredient list or a product made mainly for a marketing story. We wanted something we would be comfortable using ourselves and putting our name on.
Start with good ingredients, prepare them properly and do not weaken the formula just to make production faster or cheaper.
How the brand developed
Secret Honey did not appear overnight. The skincare collection grew from years of hands-on work, traditional knowledge and a clear idea of how we wanted the finished products to feel.
More than a decade of working with bees and seasonal natural production gave the brand its practical foundation.
Honey led naturally to other small-batch goods, including pure beeswax candles and simple natural lip balms.
The family use of tallow for cooking and skin care brought an older, practical ingredient back into focus.
We refined the traditional idea into concentrated creams with carefully chosen oils, botanicals and a polished skin feel.
The tallow side of Secret Honey
We aim for formulas that are rich but pleasant to use, naturally aromatic without smelling artificial, and simple enough that customers can understand what is inside the jar.
Carefully rendered to create a clean, rich base with a smooth texture that softens as it meets the warmth of the skin.
Used in selected formulas to improve glide, balance the texture and create a more refined everyday finish.
Manuka, sandalwood and lemon myrtle are used in selected creams for their distinctive natural character and aroma.
Whole Madagascar vanilla beans are slowly infused into selected creams rather than replacing the process with synthetic vanilla fragrance.
No compromise on the formula
Our tallow creams are concentrated and water-free. We use a short list of purposeful ingredients rather than filling the jar with things that do not improve the product.
Ingredients vary by product. Please check each product page and label for the complete formula, directions and allergy information.
The process is part of the product
Good ingredients alone are not enough. The way tallow is prepared, balanced and finished changes the texture, scent and overall experience, so we give each stage proper attention.
We begin with Australian grass-fed tallow chosen for the intended formula.
The tallow is prepared with close attention to cleanliness, consistency and texture.
Jojoba oil, botanical oils or slow infusions are added according to each recipe.
Each small batch is checked for texture and consistency before it reaches the jar.
What we have carried forward
Good ingredients deserve time, care and a process that does not cut corners.
That idea connects our beekeeping, handmade beeswax products and tallow collection. The products are different, but the standard behind them is the same.

Still connected to the source
Commercial beekeeping is not simply a background story added to the brand. It has been hands-on work for more than a decade and remains part of the way we think about natural production: seasons matter, sources matter and good results cannot always be rushed.
Our raw honey, handmade beeswax candles, natural lip care, traditional cooking fats and tallow skincare all belong to the same wider idea—use practical natural ingredients, understand how they behave and make products carefully enough that we are proud to stand behind them.
